In the Department of Pharmacy, we are committed to cultivating pharmacists and pharmaceutical researchers who hold a pharmacist license, equipped with a broad range of knowledge and skills in all areas of pharmacy. We strive to foster individuals who possess problem-solving abilities that enable them to contribute in medical settings such as hospitals and pharmacies, as well as in industry; a spirit of inquiry capable of addressing increasingly advanced healthcare needs; and a well-rounded humanity.
Building upon the foundational academic disciplines shared with the Department of Medicinal and Life Science—namely biology, chemistry, physics, and informatics—we offer an integrated curriculum encompassing drug development, life pharmaceutical sciences, environmental and sanitary pharmacy, and medical and information pharmacy. Our program emphasizes rigorous basic education, specialized pharmaceutical education centered on comprehensive pharmaceutical informatics related to drug actions, and practical pharmacist training through well-equipped facilities and partnerships with medical institutions.
Research Groups & Research Areas
-
Drug Discovery Science
The genes and proteins involved in diseases have been uncovered. Today, the goal of drug discovery research is to create new drugs also from theoretical approaches utilizing genome information and computer science in addition to the conventional techniques of synthetic chemistry.

-
Environmental / Sanitary Pharmacy
Preventing diseases and promoting health are two important missions of pharmaceutical science. Environmental / sanitary pharmacy is a traditional pharmaceutical field of scientific study into human health from a broad perspective encompassing the atomic / molecular level and reaching up to the global environment. On a foundation of nutritional science, food hygienics, public health, toxicology, and environmental hygiene, we continue to contribute to disease prevention and health promotion.
